Thoracic (chest) surgery is done in Logan, but on a limited level. Logan does not have the facilities to take care of many chest surgical patients, therefore only simple chest procedures are done here. The most common include mediastinal lymph node biopsies and decortications (cleaning infection out of the chest cavity).
Bronchoscopy is utilization of a small flexible camera to look in the broncial airways (lungs). This is most commonly done while you are asleep in surgery. It is sometimes done for cleaning out the airway, or for diagnosing an airway or lung problem.
